Hosting: Making Your Moodle Available on the Web

Based on the number of simultaneously logged in students and teachers you plan for, we offer various hosting plans. You can switch between these plans if you need an increase (or decrease) in performance.

The hosting plans differ in the monthly data transfer limits and the amount of disk space.

If you place a number of pictures or some movies on your Moodle, they take up disk space on the web server (the internet computer where Moodle is installed). We reserve a certain amount of disk space for each Moodle installation. How much exactly depends on the Moodle hosting plan you choose.

Each time students get to see a movie displayed in your Moodle, the movie file gets downloaded to their computer first. This is called data transfer. With each Moodle hosting plan, there is a monthly limit on the amount of data that can be transferred. If your Moodle exceeds the limit, you will be charged extra (i.e. on top of your monthly Moodle hosting bill). If this happens frequently, we invite you to upgrade your Moodle hosting plan, as this is generally cheaper for you.
